Birkdale & Ainsdale u3a is all about friendship, sharing interests, learning new things and enjoying life together. But behind every successful group and activity are members who give a little of their time to make things happen.
From time to time, we need a few more helping hands. Whether you have a particular skill, an interest you'd like to share, or simply some time and enthusiasm to offer, we'd love to hear from you.
You don't need special experience or qualifications – just a willingness to get involved!
New faces bring fresh ideas, new skills and different perspectives. Every contribution, however big or small, helps keep our u3a friendly, active and inclusive.
Our Current Volunteer Opportunities
Scrabble Group Leader
Do you enjoy a good game of Scrabble? Why not share your enthusiasm with other members and help lead a friendly group? It's a lovely way to bring people together and enjoy some fun and friendly competition.
Group Coordinator
We are looking for someone to support our Group Leaders, help coordinate their meetings and act as a link between the groups and the Committee. An important role in helping our groups run smoothly and stay connected.
Newsletter Editor
Do you enjoy writing, editing or putting information together? We need someone to compile our regular newsletter and contribute articles and news for the website.
This could also be a shared role, with a small team of members working together and bringing their own ideas and talents.
Photographers
Do you enjoy taking photographs? We'd love some enthusiastic members to capture the activities, events and special moments that make our u3a what it is.
Photographs of our groups, outings and local area would help bring our website to life. Perhaps this could even be the start of a new photography group!
Roving Reporter
Are you curious about what's happening around you? Do you enjoy chatting to people and sharing interesting news?
We are looking for members who could write short articles and features about our u3a activities, local events and interesting places or facilities in the area.
There's plenty to discover and share!
A New Creative and Sociable Group?
We think the roles of Newsletter Editor, Roving Reporter and Photographer could provide the perfect opportunity to bring together a small, sociable team of members.
Imagine sharing ideas over a coffee, taking photographs, discovering local stories and helping to tell everyone what is happening across our u3a.
You don't have to be an experienced writer or photographer. Enthusiasm, imagination and a willingness to have a go are far more important!
It could be a wonderful way to meet new people, make friends and develop new skills along the way.
Would You Like to Try Tai Chi or Qigong?
We have had some interest from members in starting Tai Chi and Qigong sessions.
Would you be interested in joining a group? Or perhaps you would be willing to help organise and get a new group started?
We'd love to hear from anyone interested in either attending or helping to make it happen.
